"Hmmmmm,I do pretty good work"  says "A.P. Indy" who stands at Lane's End Farm.
At the end of a long day.... Before heading home, Mary Simons and volunteer Trisha Smith spread all the artwork out in the back of the car to dry.
"Gulch" prefers to use an actual
paint brush for his Moneigh®.
The Moneigh® is shown here with the addition of a lock of his hair tied in a ribbon and attached to the paper, matted and framed. It was recently auctioned off on Ebay for $560. Thank you "Point Given"!
Moneigh® Artwork
The word "Moneigh®" came from combining the name of the famous artist, Monet, and the sound that a horse makes, a neigh.  They are pieces of artwork created by horses using their muzzle, tail and hooves. Some of the greatest Thoroughbreds in racing have created Moneighs® to raise money for ReRun.
Please visit our Ebay store "The ReRun Shop" where you can purchase our Moneigh® note cards and coffee mugs.

For more information on Moneighs please contact Mary Simons at moneighmary@insightbb.com
November 2009
Moneighs® by Mary Simons “Moneigh Mary”

We just returned from Florida and did 62 paintings in 2 days (That’s a Guinness record for sure). We had to scale down the number of paintings to 40 and that was a hard task.  All the horses were fabulous and more will be included in the spring 2010 auction.

Feel free to Google these names and you will find out more about them. Some may seem unfamiliar, but have made fabulous achievements in their careers. Of course, we have the Derby, Preakness and Belmont winners, as well as Breeder’s Cup stars and famous stallions.  There are many millionaires, and some who didn’t earn a penny.

I’m giving awards to some of this year’s outstanding artists:
Empire Maker – Quickest learner, with no encouragement, he picked up the paintbrush and swooshed like he’d done it all his life.  Midnight Lute – a wise man who looks into your soul when you meet him and made me feel like he could tell us how to save the world.  Riley Tucker, Wildcat Heir and With Distinction – painting enthusiasts who wouldn’t let go of the paper and wanted to continue painting.   Kona Gold and Lawyer Ron – Most beloved- they both had personalities of that favorite kid in your class who could make you feel like they were your best friend and would do anything for you.  I was heartbroken that both passed away this year.
Jamaica
Our mission at ReRun, is to find second careers for Thoroughbreds, so that they don’t end up abused or neglected. Besides our beloved Thoroughbreds who have given man their best efforts in their racing careers we have the following artists with compelling stories:

Deweycheatumnhowe is a Standardbred who won the biggest harness race in 2008. He was bred and raised by a caring owner. He is named after the 3 Stooges skit about lawyers.

Jamaica is a Dutch Warmblood who is part of a driving team we hope to see in the 2010 World Games. Check him out at www.Chesterweber.com to learn how he was rescued from a Belgium auction. What a beautiful breed of horse.  Landsmann (a.k.a. Nash) is a Holsteiner who could have been an Olympic contender but couldn’t make it to the end of his competitions and “pooped out”. He was given to an animal lover, who discovered he
was allergic to everything horses are exposed to and was in respiratory distress during competitions. His new owner had him treated for his allergies and he became a champion jumper. I almost couldn’t reach him to help him paint, he is soooo tall.   The same owner found Skipingo,  a Thoroughbred who is a full brother to the famous Skip Away, but just didn’t have the same talent for running as his brother.  His owner retrained him to become a champion jumper. A book about his career is included with his painting.  Mr. Ed is a Percheron, named for the KY Congressman who purchased him for $245 at an auction. The Congressman was researching the unnecessary slaughter of horses. Spitfire, a mini horse, purchased for $150 at the same auction, had an infected neck from a halter growing into his neck.   Both are now healthy, happy, inseparable, and live in luxury at one of the most beautiful and oldest farms in Central Kentucky.

Our Moneigh® auctions on ebay are an important fundraising project, so I encourage you to tell your friends and family to get on line and enjoy these fabulous artist’s work.
